Abstract:
Tilapia is the most important group in large and diverse fish family Ciclidae that comprises about 700 species. It has been cultured for commercial purposes.
This study entitled “The Fecundity of Tilapia (Oreochronis Niloticus) in Fine Mesh Nets in Pond” aimed to develop a system to breed tilapia to produce young fishes; to determine the capacity of tilapia breeders to produce eggs or young in fine mesh hap ants in pond; to know the factors that affect the fecundity of tilapia in fine mesh nets in pond.
The study was administered at the Lupon School of Fisheries freshwater tilapia fishpond in hapa nets. Based on the results of the study, the production of fingerlings of tilapia breeders in fine mesh nets is profitable. The technology is very easy to use. The production of fish can be attained if all the factors in growing fish in hapa nets in pond are all favorable throughout the culture period.
With this findings, the researchers recommend the application of the system for breeding tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in fine mesh nets in pond. Further study on the required factors is also recommended to increase the production.
